Frequently Asked Questions
I'd like to interview Travis for my newspaper, radio station, magazine, or television show. Who do I contact to arrange this?
You can contact Travis through the site forum or via TravisPsychic@yahoo.com
When did you first realize you had abilities?
In retrospect I can say that I have always been psychically aware. I didn't realize exactly what was going on with me until I was a teenager. By 16 I had embraced the idea in confidence and began to let Spirit lead me.
What is the difference between a psychic and a medium?
All mediums are psychic but not all psychics are mediums. Similar to the way that all Catholics are Christian but not all Christians are Catholic. Or all surgeons are doctors but not all doctors are surgeons. A medium is a psychic with the ability to connect with those who are now in Spirit.
Do you believe in God?
I always find it funny that when people find out that I do psychic work they think I must be some kind of heathen. Do I believe in God? I think it depends on your what your definition of whats God is... When people say "God" it denotes imagery of the humanized version of God, you know what I mean- The vengeful bearded man sitting on a throne in heaven, waiting to smite sinners. That's not my god. I believe that we are One Consciousness….You might call that consciousness the oversoul, the christians might call it "God," The philosophers might call it the collective consciousness, and scientist might call it a measurable electromagnetic field. I believe this force we call God- which we collectively Are, transcends gender and contain both masculine and feminine polarities. I believe "God" is a force, and energy, not in some far away heaven, but IN and all around us. This intelligence not only is the Creator but all of the Created…observing and interacting with itself. We are all ONE. We are all a part of and expressions of the Divine.
I was raised Christian, In a Pentacostal church, however I consider myself not religious but spiritual. As I reached my teen years I started to look for something that I better resonated with. I used to say jokingly that I had the "cafeteria plan" of religion. I would take a little of this, a serving of that, from many different religious beliefs. I have studied Catholicism, Wicca, Shamanic Practices, and Native Spirituality. I also enjoy eastern spirituality such as the teachings of the Tao and Buddhism. I am very into earth-based spirituality, and I am a member of the Spiritualist Church.
Spiritualism- the science, philosophy, and religion of continuous life based upon the demonstrated fact of communication by means of mediumship with those who live in the spirit world. A spiritualist is one who believes as part of his religion, or spiritual path, in communication between this world and the spirit world by means of mediumship, and who endeavors to mold his or her character and conduct in accordance with the highest teachings derived from such communion. A medium is one whose self is sensitive to vibrations from the spirit world, and through whose instrumentally, intelligence's, in that world are able to convey messages and produce phenomena of spiritualism.
Principles of Spiritualism
We believe in Infinite Intelligence
We belief that the phenomena of nature, both physical and spiritual are the expressions of Divine Intelligence
We affirm that a correct understanding of such an expression and living in accordance with it constitutes growth in spirituality
We affirm the existence of personal identity continues after the change called death
We affirm that communication with the so called dead is a fact, proven by the phenomena of Spiritualism
We believe that the highest morality is contained in the Golden Rule: Do unto others....
We affirm moral responsibility of the individual and that he makes his own happiness or unhappiness
We affirm the doorway to reformation is never closed against any human soul, here or hereafter
We affirm the precepts of prophesy and healing contained in all sacred writings of the world are divine attribute prone through mediumship
What about the Bible saying that it's wrong to consult psychics and mediums and to talk to the dead?
First we must acknowledge that the Bible was written by man. Man who is fallible. Man who has ego. We must also consider that people tend to fear what they do not understand, and demonize what they fear. I was born with these "gifts", its a part of who I am. No more than a person can stop being black or white, or blue eyed or brown eyed- I cannot stop being the way Creator made me to be. The Bible speaks of gifts from God- How does the gift or prophesy, and discernment different from what we would call in modern terms "psychic ability?" It doesn't. Also, we see throughout the Bible and religious history many examples of psychic phenomena, such as having visions, hearing voices, and communicating with angels and non physical beings. Jesus himself experienced psychic phenomena and displayed many psychic talents. In one biblical passage Christ speaks to Moses, as we know that by the time of Christ, Moses had been dead many centuries. Another good example is St. Bernadette, and Joan of Arc. What would have happened if they ignored their voices, visions, their calling, or let others doubtful inputs get to them? The Bible truly is a psychic history book.
In the times I have had the honor of being a medium, a messenger for those in the spirit world, I have seen the healing and therapeutic affects it has had for my clients. Is it the "devil" when you grandmother tells you how much she loves you and that she is still around you? Is it the "devil" when a child who passes comes through to help ease her mothers grief? No, I don't thinks so. "There is no source of evil. There is only a stream of well being, which you are either allowing, or you are not. But under the name of righteousness and religion, you drop bombs on innocent children. And then you say is for the good of all of us. And we say 'We don't see that' and you don't see it from our perspective either. Its only in your disconnection that those things make sense" - Abraham Hicks
Have You always been able to communicate with spirits?
No, although I have been aware of spirits presence or energy for as long as I can remember, spirit communication didn't start happening to me until I was about 17 years of age. When it began to happen, the floodgates opened. And then it quieted down for some time, and now it seems to have blossomed open once again and Spirit has been leading me to more confidently step into my role as a spiritual medium.
I am interested in learning more about psychic phenomena and spirituality. Are there any books that you recommend?
Yes there are several, You can find these authors and titles on the Recommended Resources Page.
Who are "They?"
For those of who have had a reading with me, or have heard me speak you have more than likely heard me use a phrase such as "They keep showing me this...or They want you to know.." When I say "They" who or what I am referring to is what I think of as "spirit guides."
What Are Spirit Guides, exactly?
As someone who came from a self taught new age background, then who went into the spiritualist religion, I would at one time say spirit guides are loving human entities that reside on the Other Side, who were assigned to us to guide, teach, and give insight and direction to us, while we experience our lives on Earth. We all have several Spirit Guides who are with us from the time we are born until we transition into Spirit. ---Now however if you were to ask me that questions I would say anyone or anything can be a guide or spirit guide, living or deceased, physical or non-physical, even and especially YOURSELF! YOU ARE YOUR OWN BEST GUIDE! We just have to listen...Which sometimes isn't as easy as it sounds.
